First Coupla Daze

I'm back with some photos.

I'll try not to lay too many family pics on you.  Here's the first one, at b'fast...we had just dropped our luggage off at the apt.

From the left...Jeff, Beth, Elise, ma femme, & Nora.  Happy, slightly dazed Paris arrivals.

Dinner with Laurie at a vegetarian restaurant.  We eat lightly for the first 24-36 hours...no meat or alcohol.  This place satisfies both.  I still had a hamburger, though...active ingredient: a Portobello mushroom with the usual burger trimmings plus a small side salad & yummy finger potatoes.

The next day, ordering a street crepe from our favorite place.

The crepe "chef" was kind enough to step outside the counter & snap this pic.

Parisians are still getting a bad rap on how rude they're supposed to be.

We strolled thru the art gallery wing of Place des Voges.  Where else but Paris would you see a sculpture of a person sticking put their tongue pointing to the gallery sign?

The city of Paris works very hard to make the largest city in France a very livable place.  What better activity is there than to bring in sand & volleyball nets & plunk it all down in the very large area in front of Hotel de Ville, the main Paris City Hall...my favorite building in France.

What could be kinder than to be giving out free cups of city water?  And what could be more French than to offer it plain or slightly carbonated?

Last year we saw this apparition on the street as we were having dinner.  This time near the Marais, a close up.  I'd call it a steam punk pedicab.

We strolled over to Notre Dame (it was bleary & chilly).  The lines to get in were very long, so we just took a few shots.

The flying buttresses at the rear are totally underwhelming up close, but further back they get due credit for the 14th century architectural engineering marvel that they are.

I mentioned the closed restaurant below our apt.  Three of the windows of the apt. are in the white bldg above.  Knowing & having eaten in the restaurant makes seeing it this way all the sadder.

I apologize for the inconsistent spacing in the blog.  I can spend a few hours trying to figure it out but I'd rather get these out as they are.
