No pics but I think I gotta post something! The trip over was uneventful. Passport control was a breeze, the luggage came out reasonably quickly considering we checked six pieces total. Blue Van (that's the name, a Supershuttle copycat in name only, the van as black) showed up nearly on time, being Saturday the trip in was quick.
We deposited the luggage at the apt. but had three hours to kill before it was ready. That's when time began to drag. We were zonked from a relatively sleepless night. But the weather was sunny & warm. We got euros, had b'fast, did some walking (caught a bit of Place des Voges), got groceries at Monoprix then finally got into the apt.
Later in the afternoon we went to the Arc de Triomphe then to a dinner planned at a vegetarian restaurant with Laurie, our former Navigator friend who now lives in Paris most of the time. You saw her in last year's blog. I'll post a dinner pic later.
At home I read in the Wall St. Journal that Europe might be slipping back into recession. I see it here in spades. The restaurant right below our apt. is closed as is another a few doors away. Lots of vacancies elsewhere.
Last night we had dinner at a classic Paris bistrot, Bistrot du Pienture, food good, service great. Not our favorite bistrot, that one closed for vacation til the 26th.
But there is good news...we stopped by Tony's Pizza (burned out last year). It's up & running! Tony was there...handshakes & smiles all round. Jimmy, our favorite waiter is on holiday til the 27th. We'll return with the family later this week & again when Jimmy gets back. Will post pics.
With our Elderberries, Susanne & I are old fogies cell phone-wise. But Jeff & Beth have smart phones & with the apt. Wi-Fi, they post directly to Facebook. So their FB friends & family have seen alot more of us & Paris than you, my esteemed bloggees. I hope to rectify that soon, maybe later today.
I've droned on too much.
CUL.
