First Tango in Paris

Today was a busy, active day.  We started with a tour of Chateau de Vincennes, very good (separate blog post), then on to the Museum of Romanticism, much changed, a big disappointment (no post), then chilled in the room for a bit followed by an afternoon milonga (pics/comments below), then a dinner of moules et frites (mussels & fries) at Leon de Bruxelles, one of our "must do while in Paris" meals.

There's a weekly Saturday afternoon milonga (4-7pm) at Barrio Latino, a big dance hall close to Bastille.  It was quite nice.  We started out dancing to Gotan Project's "Santa Maria", then tangoed mostly to classic tango; the waltzes were never played.

The interior decor was very nice, mostly lush reds.  Wood floor.  The crowd was very well dressed, a mixture of young & mature folks.
It got crowded, but only what I'd call AZ crowded, certainly not BA crowded.

We bellied up to the bar & ordered a bottle of Badoit.  Sounds fancy but it's just lightly carbonated water.  It was very hot today, temps in the high 80's, way above normal for this time of year.  We sweated all day.

Tomorrow is the first Sunday of the month.  It means a number of Paris museums are free.  If it works for your Paris trip, try to include a first Sunday, after the jet lag is over.
